ERIN CHOQUETTE NAMED NEW CEO OF CT PAID LEAVE AUTHORITY

Served as CTPL General Counsel and Chief Operating Officer

Hartford CT — The Connecticut Paid Leave Authority (CTPL) today announced that their Board of Directors has selected Erin Choquette to serve as the Authority’s new CEO. Ms. Choquette is replacing outgoing CEO Andrea Barton Reeves who has been nominated by Governor Lamont to serve as the Commissioner of the Department of Social Services. Ms. Choquette currently serves as the Authority’s General Counsel and Chief Operating Officer.

“From day one, Erin Choquette has been intimately involved in nearly every aspect of Connecticut’s best-in-class paid family and medical leave program,” Governor Ned Lamont said. “She literally helped write the law and has been with the program for its creation, implementation, and execution. The board’s decision to select her to become the Authority’s next CEO is a natural fit and I know she will do a great job in this critical role.”

Prior to her work for CTPL, Ms. Choquette served as the director of the Legal, Legislative and Communications Unit at the Department of Administrative Services, where she provided legal and operational advice to several DAS Commissioners, developed agency and statewide policies, and served as the Commissioner’s designee on several inter-agency committees and special projects. Ms. Choquette began her career as an attorney with the law firm of Robinson & Cole. She obtained her Bachelor of Arts degree from the College of Holy Cross and her Juris Doctor from Columbia University School of Law.

“I’m so honored that the CTPL Board has chosen me to lead the Authority through this next phase of our development, as we transition from start-up to steady state,” said Ms. Choquette. “I am committed to continuing the important mission of CT Paid Leave to serve the working families of Connecticut in their time of need. We have accomplished so much thus far, and I look forward to continually improving upon this vital program as we enter the new year and beyond.”

CTPL’s Board of Directors voted to approve Ms. Choquette as the new CEO on December 12, 2022. Ms. Barton Reeves will remain CEO until the beginning of January at which point Ms. Choquette will assume the duties of CEO.
