Changes include return to full-time work or reduction/increase in the amount of leave time

Hartford CT — The Connecticut Paid Leave Authority (CTPL) today reminded Connecticut residents that workers who apply for paid leave are required to report any change in their leave that may affect the duration or the amount of their benefits payment. Changes may include returning to work full-time or reducing or increasing the amount of paid leave time requested. If the applicant is able, changes should be reported before they occur. If advance notice is not possible, changes must be reported within five business days following the date of the change. If the applicant receives benefit payments for any period after they return to work, they are required to repay those funds to the Authority.

“We know there are many reasons why someone may need to change the duration or amount of their requested paid leave,” CT Paid Leave CEO Erin Choquette “We ask that workers let us know when their plans have changed as soon as possible so that their benefits can be adjusted accordingly.”

When an applicant is receiving CTPL benefits for time taken as a block leave (several days in a row for the same qualifying reason), they are required to notify their case manager when they return to work if it differs from the original approved period. In addition, when they are receiving CTPL benefits for time taken as a reduced schedule leave, they are required to notify their case manager when they return to their regular schedule if it differs from the original approved period.

Applicants can report their return-to-work date via the online portal by clicking on “My Cases,” choosing “add a date” and then choosing the “return to work” option under the type of date being reported. Applicants may also contact Aflac at (877) 499–8606 to speak with a Customer Care Advocate to report their return to work date if it differs from the original approved period. If they are reporting any other change to the approved leave period, applicants are asked to please call Aflac to adjust the claim or file a new claim.

To apply for paid leave online, workers will first need to create an account with CT.gov. This will provide the applicant with a single identity and will take approximately 10 minutes. The applicant can then submit their claim online. Claims may also be filed by phone by calling (877) 499–8606. Hours of operation for a live representative are 8 AM to 8 PM ET, Monday through Friday.
