Provides greater transparency into individual claims process and status

Hartford CT — The Connecticut Paid Leave Authority (CTPL) today announced a new enhancement to the CT Paid Leave Aflac claims portal. The new dashboard, which went live on the CTPL Aflac claims website on February 1, 2023, provides greater visibility into the claims process and where applicants are in the submission of the documents that are required in order for a claim decision to be made. Nearly 80% of denied claims in 2022 -the first year of benefits administration — were the result of missing documentation.

“When we saw that the documentation seemed to be what was creating the most significant challenges for claimants, we started to work with our partner Aflac on a technology solution that would streamline the claims process and provide more transparency and trackability”, said CT Paid Leave CEO Erin Choquette. “We want the claims process to be easy and accessible for workers when they need their benefits, and we will continue to listen to feedback and use that feedback to enhance the applicant’s experience.”

The online dashboard displays the category of the document (ex: identity verification, employment verification, etc.), the date the document was uploaded to the portal, and the real time status of the document as it moves through the review process. For users who want to use a website to check on their claim, applicants can reference this User Guide for assistance.

To apply for paid leave online, workers will first need to create an account with CT.gov. This will provide the applicant with a single identity and will take approximately 10 minutes. The applicant can then submit their claim online. Claims may also be filed by phone by calling (877) 499–8606. Hours of operation for a live representative are 8 AM to 8 PM ET, Monday through Friday.
