WHAT: Connecticut’s Paid Leave Authority will participate in a series of events to help employers, employees, sole-proprietors, and health care providers better understand the Paid Family and Medical Leave Act (PFMLA), and to provide the latest updates and useful information relating to the Connecticut Paid Leave Program.

WHO: The CT Paid Leave Authority’s mission is to provide employees pathways to accessible paid family leave benefits. We also empower employers, administrators, and health care providers by offering helpful tools for understanding their vital roles and providing support to navigate our program. For Connecticut employees, the Connecticut Paid Leave program offers income replacement benefits while taking leave to address personal and family health needs. For employers, this program provides the tools and resources to promote a happy, healthy, vibrant, and inclusive workplace and comply with state law.

WHY: The CT Paid Leave Authority’s goal is to provide frequent and clear information that enables Connecticut’s workforce to easily access paid family and medical leave benefits while supporting Connecticut’s businesses in administering benefits.

The event of note is:

  1. Civility BBQ and fundraiser for The Alzheimer’s Walk put on by Civility Home Care at the Danbury City Green 1 Ives Street in Danbury — Sunday, September 15th 12–3pm
  • Join Civility Homecare and friends as we support the Walk to End Alzheimer’s. Activities will include rock painting, face painting, bean bag toss, raffles and more! All the proceeds will go directly to the Alzheimer’s Association.

2. Information Session: Changes to CT Paid Leave Effective October 1, 2024 — Monday, September 16th 11am-12pm

  • Join the CT Paid Leave Authority to learn more about changes to the CT Paid Leave Act adopted in PA 24–5 effective October 1, 2024. The presentation will include: new definition of municipality in CT Paid Leave and CT FMLA and information for newly covered employers, addition of sexual assault to the CT Family Violence Leave Act, and more.

3. SBA Small Business Resource Fair in Bristol 450 North Main Street in Bristol — Wednesday, September 25th 9- 12 noon

4. CCAR (Connecticut Community Addiction for Recovery) 23rd Annual Recovery Walk Bushnell Park — Saturday, September 28th 11–3pm

  • Recovery Walks! is CCAR’s National Recovery Month Celebration, bringing together our community to put a face on recovery in the shadow of the State Capitol. Individuals in recovery, allies, friends, families, and anyone else is encouraged to attend.
